Plutopia 2012:
The Future of Imagination

Instead of the myriad of dystopian projections for 2012, we at Plutopia are certain that Plutopia 2012: The Future of Imagination will provide the thrill of new discovery in support of our mission to help foster an optimistic, accessible feeling abut the future.

Imagination is the work of the mind. Imagination is the ability of forming mental images, sensations and concepts, in a moment when they are not perceived through sight, hearing or other senses. Imagination helps provide meaning to experience and understanding to knowledge; it is a fundamental facility through which we make sense of the world and it also plays a key role in the learning process. The more fertile the imagination, the greater potential for innovation, wealth generation and human advancement.

The Future of Imagination is the theme for Plutopia 2012, will be held in Austin, TX in September 2012. Given imagination’s direct connection to sensation, what better way to celebrate Plutopia Productions 6th year in a row of producing a spectacular, exhilarating signature “sense event.”

Albert Einstein said, “Imagination … is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.

We are creating an amazing spectacle that will offer a world of performances and interactive installations such as immersive sensory enhancement and processing, neural feedback and brainwave connected devices, 3D / holographic worlds, gaming and cinematic content creation technologies and creative machines, emerging visualization and projection, performance and interactive art, new approaches to narrative (including chatbots), the imaginary world of aesthetics and of course, music and entertainment galore.

Our last mind-blowing Plutopia 2011: The Future of Play, was held in March at Austin’s Mexican American Cultural Center and hailed as “a thrilling interactive experience of the future” by Laughing Squid’s Scott Beale. It showcased Sonic Youth’s Lee Ranaldo, 8-bit music from Nullsleep, robot soccer, the launch of Music Computing, digitally enhanced hybrid plants, Sphero’s smart phone controlled robotic ball, Sifteo’s interactive gaming cubes and so much more. The event attracted an audience of around 1500 and extravagant plaudits from world media

Plutopia Productions’ “sense events “are where technology, art and entertainment converge.
