Sofia Richie married the music producer Elliott Grainge in the South of France this April, in what became one of the most talked-about weddings of the year – not least because the bride wore three bespoke Chanel gowns. She also opted for a beauty look that read as both timeless and modern, which is not easy to achieve.
The make-up, by A-list artist Pati Dubroff (whose regular clients include Margot Robbie and Priyanka Chopra) proved perfect inspiration for not only brides-to-be, but for all wanting to channel a romantic beauty look that reads as fresh and contemporary.
"Sofia’s wedding make-up was really all about [looking] fresh, clean, glowy," the artist explained in a video, revealing that key to the star's radiant complexion were the multitasking Nudies All-Over Face Colours by Nudestix, the brand for which the influencer and model serves as a beauty director. First Dubroff used the bronzy shade Sunkissed, with the fiery shade Picante on top – one which Richie later revealed she was wary of at first. “I never would have thought to use like an orangey tone like that,” she says in a TikTok video recreating her wedding make-up. Now? She’s “obsessed” with it.

And it seems Richie isn't the only one. Since her bridal beauty look went viral across the world, sparking a 'quiet luxury' trend among women of all ages, those creamy Nudestix colour sticks became beauty's sleeper hit of the summer. Both sold out instantly, with the brand restocking as swiftly as it could for months on end. Happily, now are both back in stock – but if you're keen to try them for yourself, we suggest you move swiftly.
To finish Richie's flawless base, Dubroff then used the Makeup by Mario Soft Sculpt Transforming Skin Enhancer in Light/Medium to add "a touch of sunkissed glow, but nothing too heavy".
The warm glow was cohesive, and Richie's eye make-up was achieved with Chanel's eyeshadow liner Stilo Ombre et Contour in shade 12 Contour Clair, layered beneath a gold gloss by the brand that's unfortunately no longer available – though the effect is easy to recreate. To do so, "put some gold eyeshadow and mix it into a balm for a luminous gold glow," Dubroff offers. For mascara, she applied the Maybelline Lash Sensational Waterproof, knowing that any bride needs a stay-put formula on their wedding day.
However, it was this particular product that Richie instructed Dubroff use on her. “One of the only requests I think I actually had for Pati was to bring this Maybelline mascara. Other than that, I was like ‘I trust you with my life’,” she said in the same video, above.
Finally, the lips. The perfect peachy pink, Dubroff used the Rouge Coco Baume from Chanel – a buildable tinted lip balm – in shade 928 Pink Delight, then applying the Nudestix Intense Matte Lip + Cheek Pencil in Sunkissed Nude "a little bit in the centre".
Richie describes the Chanel lipstick as “the most beautiful colour” that she was “applying all night” – and hasn’t stopped since. “I literally went to the Chanel store two days after I got home from my wedding and bought as many as I could find,” she shares in the second part of her video recreating her wedding make-up.
Richie's bridal hairstyle was equally elegant. Achieved by the talented Kathleen Riley, she wore a sleek, centre-parted low bun, which unravelled into a ponytail for the evening.
The epitome of current chic, Richie's fairy-tale beauty will inspire well beyond her big day. For more wedding-related ideas, read Bazaar's ultimate guide to bridal beauty here, follow this facial massage tutorials for brides-to-be, and find 22 of the best wedding hair and make-up artists in the UK.
